Colleen Dixon

Colleen Dixon shares her own story of trying to conceive:

"My huband and I started TTC right after we were married. I knew we would have problems, because I never had regular cycles. So, I started charting right away, so I would have some information to show my doctor. After six months of no success (and only three cycles), I went to my doctor with my charts. He proscribed Clomid for three months. It didn't work. He then referred me to a well known reproductive endocrinologist. Boy, was I lucky! Not only was the RE very knowledgeable about PCOS, but he's very active in the PCOSA. He proscribed glucophage, an insulin sensitizer. After six months, I still wasn't pregnant, so he also put me on Clomid. Finally, I got pregnant!" "August 30, 1999, I gave birth to my beautiful daughter, Olivia. I immediately went back on glucophage. Just after Olivia's first birthday, we decided to try for another child. Thanks to being in much better shape, I conceived shortly thereafter. Our son, Max, was born April 12, 2001. I consider myself very fortunate! I had some difficulty conceiving, but not to the degree that many woman have trouble."
Colleen now enjoys working part time as a consultant for a computer firm, working from home so she can be with her two children. She and her husband, Jeff, have been married for four and a half years.
