Other Resources
The are many other sources of medical information about PCOS. Below is just a sampling of the information that is available to you, both online, and elsewhere.
Government Sponsored Web sites
United States
The following web sites are provided by the U.S. government, and hold a wealth of information, from published articles to research study listings.
- This is the health section of the web site of the National Institute of Health, a division of the U. S. Department of Health and Human Services.
- This is the MedlinePlus web site. This is a great starting point for researching articles, research studies, medications, and medical terms.
- This is PubMed, the National Library of Medicine's online database of published journal articles. This is a wonderful resource for those looking for clinical research on PCOS.
- This is the NIH's database of current clinical trials. While not an exhaustive listing, it's a good place to look. Many of the trials listed are related to an NIH program, so this may be the only place they are listed.
Via the sites listed above, you can reach all sorts of information about health issues, which used to be available only in some libraries, and at the NIH itself!
Other Governments
The links listed below are for resources outside the United States.
- NHS Direct is the web site for the United Kingdom's national health organization. Lots of good information!
- This is the web site of Health Canada, the national health organization of Canada. Also available in French.
- This is the Health Insite web site, provided by the national health organization of Australia.
Other Web sites
Below are just a few of the many web sites related to health and PCOS. You can find many more simply by typing in "health" on your favorite search engine!
- A web site for women's health, especially gynecology and obstetrics.
- A good general health site.
- This is another good general health site, and includes some articles and a discussion board specifically for PCOS.
There are far too many print resources to list here! The best options are books, medical journals, and magazine articles. To find articles, you might try some of the web sites above to guide you to printed materials at your local library, where you can access them at a much lower cost than ordering reprints of them online.
You can view a list of books through our online store. Books purchased through our online store earn money for the PCOSA, and enable us to provide benefits such as this web site and our publications.
