The PCOS Record - October 21, 1998, v1 n2
The purpose of the PCOSA Record is to assist in the administration of the pco-support mailing list, to provide information to the members of this list about PCOSA, to educate members about netiquette, to bridge the gap between the pco-support mailing list,
PCOSA, and Usenet's alt.support.pco.
The feature of this edition of the PCOS Record is acronyms. We see them all the time on the list, and sometimes they can be a little confusing. Hopefully this will help to clear
up some of the confusion!

In each of these postings I will try to answer
your questions about the PCO List. For more information on the PCO List,
check out the FAQs located at http://www.best.com/~mclark/pco/
Dear Moderator,
What is up with the list? I did not get a single digest all day and I
usually get at least 8 or so a day.
Signed,
Missing my Cysters
Dear Missing my Cysters,
Since I have started hand moderating the list (reading each post and then
accepting , or occasionally rejecting them), the list is getting groups
of messages at a time. This happens because I dont sit in front
of my computer all day moderating the list. I also have a job and a family
- that is besides my cyber-sisters on this list. So when I have a few
free minutes between work and family functions, I log onto my computer,
pull down the messages read them and accept or reject the
messages. So on days when I am really busy I may only go log onto my computer
once or twice during the day and so you may receive no messages or a whole
bunch of messages at a time depending on when you are downloading your
messages.
If you go for longer than 48 hours without a message please notify me
at pco-owner@lists.best.com, I will let you know what the problem is and if you have missed any posts
I will be glad to send them to you.
Dear Moderator,
I have heard that you sometimes reject messages, can you tell me what
types of messages you reject?
Signed,
Dont Reject Me
Dear Dont Reject Me,
Here are the reasons that I reject messages-
- Formatting Problems
A. Replied and copied the entire digest in your reply.
B. Attachment (the attachments dont work on the list)
C. Written in HTML or has other on readable text in the message
- Other General Problems
A. You sent several of the same post (usually your ISP or mail program
error)
B. Its a "me too" this is a one line congrats,
I agree, me too or such post
please send privately
C. Send a subscribe, subsingle, alias, or unsubscribe command to the
list.
D. I could not figure out what you had written
- Flaming e-mails
These are e-mails that are sent to the list that would hurt someone.
I may tell you what would be offensive and to re-write it so I can post
it.
I also rarely allow chain letters
I will always check the validity first.
I am not trying to censor the list what will happen though if I
see a flame war starting is post a message that no other posts on this
topic will be allowed at this time.
Hope that helps, for any other questions please write pco-owner@lists.best.com.

Tips in Cyberspace
By Heather Lubinsky
Posting Tip:
When replying to a message (especially if you receive the digest
form) remember to change the subject header and cut out all parts of the
message or digest you are NOT responding to that way your post
is easier for all to read.
Great Places for Info:
http://www.pcosupport.org - PCO Support Home page
http://www.best.com/~mclark/pco - PCO List Home Page
http://www.geocities.com/BourbonStreet/3032 - Jennifer Churchills very informative web site
Personal Tip:
Remember to do something nice for at least one person every day
- and if someone does something nice for you repay them twice; Once with
a thank you and one more time by doing something nice for someone else
and tell that person - you did it because someone else did something nice
to you.
If you have any other tips or suggestions please write to Heather Lubinsky

Whats New on the List?
By Heather Lubinsky
Well lets see I guess lets start with:
WELCOME TO THE NEW PCO LIST!!!!
I am sure many of you have noticed the difference over the last couple
of weeks. This list is now back to its very supportive beginning. I am
hand moderating the list and it should stay nice and supportive.
We have reached digest 4000 and are well past that now. Thats a
lot of wonderful posts with more information than anyone could have ever
imagined.
Also there are 2 other PCO lists:
- pconatural - This is a list for those
who are interested in the natural treatments for PCO. To subscribe
send a message to pconatural-request@lists.best.com and write subscribe or subsingle (for single messages) in the body of
the message. For any other questions please write to Melissa at pconatural-owner@lists.best.com
- pcopreg - This list is for those members
who are currently pregnant and have PCO. To subscribe send a message to pcopreg-request@lists.best.com and write subscribe or subsingle (for single messages) in the body of the message. For any other questions please write to Jennifer at pcopreg-owner@lists.best.com
Just starting up:
- Pcoteen - This list is for teen or young
adult members with PCO. The focus will be on the problems that
young adults and teens face. To join please send a message to pcoteen-owner@lists.best.com. I will be hopefully starting the list by November 1. I am also
looking for volunteers to help these girls find resources in their areas.
Looking for Moderators:
- Pcononfert - I am looking for a moderator
or two for a new list that will be for discussing all issues of PCO
except fertility. Please contact heather@pcgal.com if you are interested
in becoming a moderator.
Finally, I am always looking for new ideas
and suggestions for the list(s) please let me know if you have
any write me directly at heather@pcgal.com.
